It's Mother's Day! ๐ My mother and I have had a tumultuous relationship ๐ฅ When I was growing up, she was every bit as strict, overbearing, and demanding as any stereotypical Chinese "tiger mom" ๐ฏ, and boy did it clash with my easily distracted daydreaming persona ๐ญ We fought constantly throughout my teenage years, to the point where when I turned 18 I booked it right outta there ๐ Since then, I've come to realize that the endless berating ๐ฃ๏ธ, the nights of screaming and crying over homework and bad grades ๐, all the forsaken extracurricular activities ๐น were, in a [very] weird way, a sort of love language for my mom. All she ever wanted was for me to be "successful", because in her culture, success ๐ฒ=happiness ๐. Our relationship has mellowed out and greatly improved over time (funny how that can happen when given space and autonomy ๐ฌ) and I've learned to appreciate some of the tough trials she's put me through ๐ช Anyway, with all that I just wanna say I love my mom. I hope all of you are able to appreciate your own mothers, no matter the relationship you have or had with them ๐ Have a wonderful day, bbs โค๏ธ
