Patreon Update (23/11/24)

Book 3 is completed. I'm doing a full dev edit run on it now, so the kindle version might change a little. But not by a lot.

One of my biggest flaw is my writing style, and I'm planning to use a month or more to try and fix that. I'm gunning to try and adopt the Chicago Manual of Style and firm up my writing to be more in line with the market.

Book 4 chapters will come out intermittently, but there's no guarantee on when the chapters are coming out. Due to the sizes of the book, there could be a scenario where Book 2/3 are bo...

Chapter 172 - Slippery Slope (Book 3 End)

The next day...

Kyle's cloak billowed in the wind, the golden snake patterns embroidered within fluttering in his wake. A dozen Ghosts flanked both his left and right as they marched up to the Magda. Curious citizens and hopeful children cheered for him as he ascended the steps up to the enforcers' main office, celebrating the victory over the Ardent Cretins with fanfare.

Two Ghosts open the large chapel doors of the Magda for him, their creaking sounds echoing through the tough marble floors. At the end of the chapel wa...

Chapter 171 - Victory and Cost

Sebastian's voice struck like lightning. Both sides who heard it couldn't believe their ears, each soldier exchanging confused glances with one another. The tension wound up like a spring in their muscles dissipated rapidly as weapons were lowered momentarily.

"We... we did it? Is that Sebastian's voice? Am I hallucinating?" Niko exclaimed, his fist stopping in midair. Even the beat-up Cretin knight below him had momentarily forgotten his bleeding nose and broken arms, surprised by the declaration. The Ardent Cretins had been at the to...

Chapter 170 - Ares (II)

Ollie was never one for fighting. Just two years ago, he was another kid, content to fade into the background and make a meager living. Another soul surviving among the smog-filled alleys, hiding from the glow of pulsating pipes and the hiss of arctech engines. Another child lost in the countless faces of the South Sector, a world where there was never enough to go around.

He was well-acquainted with death and starvation, seeing the daylight flood the slums while he daydreamed of legends. Heroes and warriors fighting in wars long past ...

Chapter 169 - Ares

Kyle had no time to think as another deadly gauntlet punch the size of his chest slammed into his spear shaft. The force sent rippling waves through his arms, making them numb while his soles drew lines in the dirt. The Spear shuddered with a ringing vibration that threatened to shake itself apart, residual arcia energy sparking outwards. Kyle did not lose his grip, quickly switching his hands over in an attempt to strike Ares.

The spearhead shot through the air right towards Ares's face, but Ares grabbed it at the last second with his...

Chapter 168 - Mage Hunter

Kyle squinted in recognition at some of the equipment the mage hunter's crew was wearing, noticing that they were all Galactic-Era technology, scavenged from ruins around. Others were clearly a mix of arctech and Galactic-Era technology, something he had to be wary about. Let's wait and see what they have to play.

Behind him, the destroyed blockade was immediately refilled by the surviving Cretins, suppressing the rest of the veteran Ghosts strike force who were trying to break through and help Kyle. Despite their efforts, Kyl...

Chapter 167 - Clash of the South

No one could say for sure the exact minute the battle started. It was hard to when the radio channels were jammed up with countless reports of approaching forces coming from the Ardent Cretins in the middle of the night, just like Kyle had predicted.

[Two platoons spotting creeping up along the walls!]

[Mortar squad shelling our position; we need backup, now!]

[There's an entire division running through the collapsed buildings in the north!]

Still, it was a lot faster than Kyle had expected, only a mere twelve hours a...

Chapter 166 - Calm Before The Storm

The destitution in the Seven Snakes District was palpable, even from afar. Rows upon rows of houses, apartments, stores and factories were shattered into shells from the continuous war with the Ardent Cretins. Entire blocks of memories, dreams and hope had been pummeled into the ground by never-ending barrages of mortars, pellet fire and explosives in multiple skirmishes. With the help of a fraction of the surviving enforcers as well as reinforcements from the Culdao Peaks in the early stages, Damian and Keith were able to hold their ground ...

Chapter 165 - Return of the King

Baron Cain stared blankly, his mouth agape, trying to find the right words. He alternated his gaze between the crashed coffin and the staggeringly large exosuit, a design he had never seen before. "Where the hell have you been, and how did you get your hands on that? I never seen that, not even from the Legions in Tryas." Baron Cain blabbered, his voice still jittery from the close shave with death.

"Our time would be better spent trying to get out of here. I have two dozen soldiers distracting the Ardent Cretins right now." Kyle helpe...

Chapter 164 - Machinations

Kyle was about to slaughter the remaining Demons when he suddenly realized something strange. No kill message? Alarm bells rang in his head as he instinctively raised his spear, the shaft blocking a strange tendril of meat extending out of the commander's exploded chest that slammed right into him.

"What...what the fuck?!" One of the newer Demon recruits exclaimed in horror as he watched the commander's corpse shred apart, revealing a throbbing, gruesome blob of meat that crawled out of the stomach. Tiny, slender appendag...

Chapter 163 - Culdao Peaks Town

In Culdao Peaks Town, three days later...

A gust of chilly air blew through a rose-tainted glass window, the cold wind brushing past the cotton sleeves of the innkeeper as he hunched over a bed, trying to set a mattress cover. He grunted as he flung the corners of the cover to the further end that he could not reach. Still, he took great care to flatten it, meticulously ironing out any creases with his hands. Not a single word was spoken by him, the hair along his forearm standing on edge out of fear from the looming giant of ...

Chapter 162 - Kregol

A day later...

Kyle woke up in a pool of sweat on a medical bed in the Oracle Chambers, immediately checking his surroundings. This time, the upgrade didn't seem to hurt him as much. It must be the 229-A-X regeneration helping out. Yet, he also knew nothing in the universe came for free, and his stomach had already been famished from the energy expended to heal the damage caused.

Patreon Update (07-11-2024)

I don't have any excuses. I've just been writing, rewriting, then throwing it away, and then rewriting it again. I'm still doing my best to get the end of book 3 out, and I'm still working on it every day.

Otherwise, we have a few art updates

Chapter 161 - Angel of War

In the forests of the Culdao Peaks, three days later...

[...Harrison has been slain in Ulut, putting an end to the civil war as the fallout continues to be tallied. Newly appointed President Dekar is publicly offering Count Leon a ceasefire, but Count Leon has yet to respond to the proposal...] A static-filled announcer's voice crackled through the arctech radio, his voice wafting through the humid air amidst a mess of ferns and trees, the lingering stench of mud permeating the area. The arctech radio fizzled out in the middle...

Chapter 160 - Reckoning of Ulut (2)

At Harrison's Castle....

"Brace the door, cover the windows!" A Nest guard commander yelled, motioning to the dozens of guards scurrying about in the central grand hallway of the opulent castle. Metal barriers and hastily assembled fortifications were stacked upon one another, barricading the entry points while repeaters fired away continuously at the upper floors, stalling the approach of the invading Ghosts.

"Not one single filthy Ghost will get through, not on my watc-" The commander's assurance was cut short by...

Far above Ulut...

"Are you sure this is safe?!" Culo shouted over the whistling roar of air rushing past, mixed with the surge of pellets whizzing through the clouds as he steadied himself in the cargo cabin of an Aurtla plane, his cold gloved hands clasping around a supporting rope strung along the sides. He watched as dummy coffin pods were slowly released one by one, the plane sailing far above the clouds with only the peaks of the mountain range visible below.

"Sure thing. Kyle added shock absorbers to the base. Even...

"Why are we not chasing them?!" Dekar argued with Kyle in the remains of the president's office. "We had them by the balls, we could have crushed them right in the open."

"A wounded alien is as dangerous as a black hole," Kyle explained.

"...what?"

"The city of Tenar needs to be consolidated. There are still too many unknown factors among the population. Furthermore, Count Leon still has a mage in play. There is a chance he could turn the battle on us."

"You can handle the mage. You said you went toe-to-toe with him b...

Patreon Update (23rd Oct)

I've missed posting for the last three days because of the following reasons.

1. My left wrist is suffering pretty badly from both work and the writing, so i needed to slow down a little on both. I'm doing wrist exercises now, so should get back up to speed by this weekend assuming no more complications. Writing documentation at work and then writing 10k words a day continuously pretty much wasted my wrist due to no exercise.

2. I'm still having big troubles trying to streamline everything in book 3. It's the culmination of tyi...

Chapter 157 - Fallout

Kyle watched as Dekar landed yet another weak punch on Mornero's face, his coarse knuckles drawing blood on the current president who was tied up in a chair. Kyle didn't say anything, but couldn't help thinking the entire situation was a bit of a farce. If anyone else were to see this, this could be constituted as a presidential brawl. Galactic Era streamers would kill to broadcast such an event.

Still, Kyle didn't laugh or mock either of them, simply standing by the side as Dekar continued to beat up Mornero with every ...

Chapter 156 - Battle of Tenar (2)

Chaos ruled on the streets of Tenar, burning wrecks of overturned wagons and smashed ration outposts littered the sidewalks. Opportunistic citizens scoured the wreckages for any rations available, while children cried and wandered about, looking for their long-dead parents. All around the smoky ruins of shelled and bombed buildings were loud echoes of wagon-mounted speakers playing through the city.

A Raktor private fumbled his hands as he tried to pour the pellets into the canister from an ammo box, some of the pellets spilling out onto the floor. The small metallic pellets pinged off the rusted metallic sides of the machine gun, rolling towards a few cowering soldiers who held their helmets tightly.

A series of distant booms could be heard, causing them to flinch on instinct, knowing that it was another round of artillery fire from the Versian army. The sergeant in charge of the platoo...

Patreon Update (07/10/2024)

Heya, been a week since the last update. A few things to get out of the way:

1. Book 3 chapters are now being released steadily. There is a major glaring issue with something in chapter 165 that I'm still wracking my head around to fix, so I can't dump everything yet for Patreon.

Once that's cleared up, Scions will get the entire book 3 dumped for them, and help point out any errors. I'm pretty confident in the first few chapters, so Vipers will get one chap a day until all Scions cleared it, then full dump etc. Really want to ...
