"Cosmic Connections" Page: Living Teddy Bear

"Cosmic Connections" Page: Dino Alien

      If you read the other post, you know that my internet keeps going out, so I have to make this quick. This is another "Cosmic Connections" page; I'm sure you recognize part of it. I wanted to do a reptilian alien, but not the standard version, so I went with a dinosaur. When I was a kid, my favorite dinosaur was the triceratops, so that's what I went with. The tongue was the cherry on top.

A Redheaded Pudgie has a Turn

     I hope this piece looks okay; the only scan I have is really rough, so it took a lot of digital cleanup and repair. If you read today's other post, you know what shape my wrist is in, and I suck at typing with just my left hand, so I'm not going to say a lot about this one, except that I love how slippery she looks.      I got a late start on this page, then everything that could go wrong, did.      A few weeks back, I felt an itch on my leg and discovered the bite in the attached photo (warning: it's kinda gross). At first I thought it was a spider bite, but after a few days it got worse, so I thought I should do some research.       Okay, I am officially losing it. Gray matter leaking out my ears. I had planned to post this a few weeks ago, and I was positive that I had. "Forgot Her Hat", Pinup Painting Sketch

     Here's a sketch, on watercolor paper, of a pinup I'm planning for the Cheesecake of Horror series. I've started blocking in the clouds just as value masses, to work out the composition, but when it comes time to paint, I will actually lift off most of the graphite with a kneaded eraser, because paint over pencil can get ugly.

Pudgie Pinup

     I think I shared one of these before. Pudgies are basically plump, nympho pixies. I don't know why, but I get a kick out of drawing their horny little antics. Simple joy in fleshly acts, and they're always so happy! This one is colored pencil over watercolor, for anyone interested.

Hellboy Commission

     I'm not a big fan of artists drawing characters closely associated with one particular artist, especially its creator. They just never look right. (I've seen versions of my characters from other artists so far off the mark that I almost didn't recognize them. Nessie Pinup

     Here we have another pinup of Nessie that I could have sworn I posted here already. This was a commission, one of several for the same person, I believe. I went with gray tones, of course, to minimize any possible suckage. I do like the naturalness of the piece: Nessie, by the water, essentially in her native habitat, not so much posing sexily as just being. Even her naked body, while pleasant to look at, is not overly sexualized. At least that's how I see it.

     Here's another page from the "gladiatorial combat" (I cringe just writing that; it's such a cliche in sci fi and fantasy) scene from the Slamhounds short, "Stinger". Not much to say about this one, except to reiterate that I really wish I'd gotten to do Slamhounds. Dash is such a fun yet sad and complex character. Oh, and here's a rarity: I really like this page. Far West: "Under Covers" pg. 1, Pencils

Penciled Deja Vu Page

     Here's another page from the Deja Vu one-shot, "Fall Colors". It's actually the page before the last one I posted; Deja uses the distraction of flashing her headlights to set up one of the scarecrows for a kick to the head.      This Cheesecake of Horror pinup design was originally going to be one of the October Sketches. It's a low value range study, but in the final, color version, she'll be a black cat. Cheesecake of Horror and Monster Girl Sculpts Sketches

     During my time doing comics, my other skills have languished, to put it mildly; others I'd always wanted to develop, I never even got to try. I'm determined to fix that. Slamhounds Cast Pinup, Pencils

I don't know if I've posted designs for the whole cast of Slamhounds, but this pinup has everyone...well, except Vengus Marr, villain of the first arc and the one who sets the whole thing in motion. Psiren Commission, Finished

     Yet again I forgot to do scans as I progressed to make this a step-by-step presentation. I tend to get to drawing and just keep going. Plus, the constant cat interruptions are a bit distracting. To at least give some breakdown... After penciling the whole thing (except the musical notes part), I inked the foreground, using bolder lines on Psiren's outlines, and leaving most detail and shading on the figure uninked. Then I rendered the sky (again, without the musical notes; just the clouds), using stumps and sham...
